Not only that, but the average user’s time spent on the Facebook app has climbed recently, rising from an average of 19.4 hours per month in Q1 2022 to an average of 19.7 hours per month in Q2.

CHANGES WITH THE iOS14 UPDATE

One of the major changes that came with the iOS14 update was a change to how Facebook tracks user data.

Previously, Facebook would track users across all of the websites and apps that used its platform. This allowed them to build detailed profiles of each user so that they could deliver targeted ads.

With the iOS14 update, Facebook can now only track users on websites and apps that have implemented its new “App Tracking Transparency” (ATT) feature. This means that Facebook will no longer have as much data on each user, which limits its ability to deliver targeted ads.

Despite these changes, Facebook is STILL able to deliver targeted ads because it has so much data on its 2.96 billion monthly active users.

When you combine this with the fact that Facebook ads are still relatively cheap compared to other advertising platforms, it’s easy to see why they’re still such a powerful tool for growing your email list.

Not only are they an effective way to reach more people and grow your list quickly, but they’re also still one of the most cost-effective marketing channels out there.

LOOKING AHEAD

Even if Meta were to report more drops in the number of active users in the upcoming months, it would probably be years before Facebook “dies.”

For context, despite the platform almost disappearing from media headlines in recent years, well over half a billion users still visit Yahoo! each month.

According to these Yahoo! tendencies, we may anticipate that Facebook will continue to draw billions of users for the foreseeable future.

Because of this, you can be confident that Facebook will keep providing worthwhile marketing opportunities much into the future, far beyond the reach of even your most ambitious media strategy. 

In fact, more than 70% of all referrals from social media to websites are still attributed to Facebook.
